2008 X5 3.0si SAV ReviewThe 2008 BMW X5 3.0si SAV has been called greater than great, and it has several new innovative features that offer safety and convenience as well. An impressive new feature is the Comfort Access, which allows the driver to unlock the vehicle by touching the door handle. There’s also a start/stop button on the remote key that can start the engine at the push of a button.

The ‘08 X5 offers several standard safety features, including front dual airbags and passenger seat sensors designed to avoid unnecessary deployment, and active head restraints.

The X5 offers power with its 6-cylinder engine that puts out 260-horse power. This BMW also uses a 6-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with Adaptive Transmission Control and steptronic gear selection.

Working on the striking appearance of the X5 include exterior features like xenon adaptive headlights and chrome exhaust tips. There’s also a Panoramic moonroof with two-piece glass panel, power slide and lift control, wind deflector and electric interior sunshade. Convenient options are a space-saver spare tire and intermittent rain-sensing windshield wipers with adjustable and vehicle-speed-sensitive wiping interval, single-wipe control, windshield-washer system with heated washer jets.

Interior comfort is provided by the 2008 X5’s 10-way power-adjustable driver’s and passenger’s seat with leatherette upholstery and automatic climate control with separate left/right temperature settings, automatic air conditioning and recirculation control. Passengers are entertained with the audio system, which includes an AM/FM CD player with MP3 playback capability. There’s also pre-wiring for satellite radio capability.

BMW’s 2008 X5 3.0si SAV is safe, innovative and reliable, and will likely be one of the most appealing rides this year.
