2008 Pontiac Solstice ReviewThe 2008 Pontiac Solstice offers impressive new features for this year. Packed with an attractive styling, respectable road performance, and excellent maneuverability, the Solstice is one of the best choices you have for a roadster. Not only that, this new model is very affordable too. For 2008, the Pontiac Solstice has several standard and new features available.

The ‘08 Pontiac Solstice comes in two trim levels namely the base and the performance-oriented GXP. Both have 18-inch wheels with 245/45 performance tires, a manual soft top with an acoustic headliner and a glass rear window with defogger, a tilt steering wheel, OnStar telematics, a trip computer and an audio system with satellite radio. In addition, both are equipped with a CD/MP3 player and an auxiliary jack. To these, the GXP adds a turbocharged engine, a limited-slip differential, dual exhaust outlets, foglamps, cruise control, full power accessories, keyless entry and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Meanwhile, air-conditioning, leather seating, upgraded audio with a six-disc CD changer, sport pedals and the Club Sport Package are optional.

With regard to engines, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 177 hp and 166 pound-feet of torque powers the base Solstice. On the other hand, the GXP uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four that generates 260 hp and 260 lb-ft. Owners may opt for a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic.

Safety is at the top of the list of the 2008 Solstice. To address this major concern, four-wheel disc brakes are standard on both trims. Meanwhile, ABS and stability control are standard only on the GXP and optional in the base trim. Based on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash testing, the 2008 Pontiac Solstice scored four stars for both frontal and side-impact tests.

The 2008 Pontiac Solstice combines appealing styling, plentiful grip, powerful acceleration and attractive pricing, making it more competitive with other roadsters of its kind.
