2009-chrysler-pt-cruiser.jpgSince Chrysler dropped the sports variations from the PT line in 2008, they have been able to focus on making the ëcruiser’ part of the experience as pleasant as possible. The 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser is their answer to the trendy mini cooper, though it’s not particularly small. But how does it fair against similar vehicles?

If you are concerned about hauling power then the PT Cruiser is probably not the car for you. Engine performance is nothing to write home about, with a 2.4L DOHC, 4 cylinder block making 150hp in the basic models, and a turbocharged version clocking in at 180hp this isn’t extraordinary or exciting, but it fits the cruise moniker, and provides sufficient power so that acceleration is pleasantly responsive.

Although the Cruiser is edging toward the mini range of the market, it’s comfortable inside, with plenty of room for two backseat passengers to relax with plenty of room. It’s pleasantly proportioned at the front, also. The two door convertible version is also well proportioned, though door configuration makes entry and exit a bit tricky.

The only let down with the 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser is its somewhat lacklustre finish, which could be much better for a few thousand dollars extra. Still, the lower priced models offer the better value for money, as the 30hp extra isn’t worth the cash and all the best safety and entertainment features are included in the basic model.
