The 2009 Porsche 911 is a car which needs no introduction. So let’s dive right into it shall we?
Ranging from approximately $75,000 up to a whopping $200,000 (and that’s not including any extras!) The 911 is Porsches hallmark brand. It simultaneously sets the yardstick for sports car performance and executive luxury. At home on the track, cruising the highway or the city streets, it’s hard to fault this modern marvel.
The 911’s design is unremarkable, but admittedly it does hold a certain timeless beauty. While Porsche body styles gradually became more contemporary during the course of the 2000’s the new 911 takes the design right back to its roots. Much of Porsches publicity material shows the new 2009 model in classic 1950’s racing green, if the redesign hadn’t provided enough of a hint.
Under the hood is the usual uncompromising affair. A 3.6-liter, horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine produces 345 hp and 288 pound-feet of torque which help the tiny car lurch to 60 mph in under 5 seconds.
Handling has got to be top notch on something so powerful, and the 2009 Porsche 911 does not disappoint. Amongst Porsches smorgasbord of nifty traction control systems and intelligent suspension lurk a simple truth: The 911 was made to handle beautifully. Even if you threw out all the new gimmickry, these things would still be a dream to drive.
