Since Chrysler dropped the sports variations from the PT line in 2008, they have been able to focus on making the ëcruiser’ part of the experience as pleasant as possible. The 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser is their answer to the trendy mini cooper, though it’s not particularly small. But how does it fair against similar vehicles?

If you are concerned about hauling power then the PT Cruiser is probably not the car for you. Engine performance is nothing to write home about, with a 2.4L DOHC, 4 cylinder block making 150hp in the basic models, and a turbocharged version clocking in at 180hp this isn’t extraordinary or exciting, but it fits the cruise moniker, and provides sufficient power so that acceleration is pleasantly responsive.

Although the Cruiser is edging toward the mini range of the market, it’s comfortable inside, with plenty of room for two backseat passengers to relax with plenty of room. It’s pleasantly proportioned at the front, also. The two door convertible version is also well proportioned, though door configuration makes entry and exit a bit tricky.

The only let down with the 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser is its somewhat lacklustre finish, which could be much better for a few thousand dollars extra. Still, the lower priced models offer the better value for money, as the 30hp extra isn’t worth the cash and all the best safety and entertainment features are included in the basic model.

The 2009 Chrysler Sebring title extends across a roughly similar range of vehicles; a four door family sedan, a two door convertible and upgraded versions of each. Their connecting heritage is that they share the same front-wheel-drive platform that holds the Dodge Avenger together. Even the engines are the same. So what sets apart these triplets separated at birth?

Not a lot, as it turns out, but there are just enough to warrant a somewhat careful consideration when you get to the dealers. The Sebring prodigies all feature a more edgy finish, but it’s nothing to write home about. They are also lighter, but this somehow doesn’t convert into improved acceleration or handling.

The Sebring also comes with the usual generous helping of gadgets and safety features; four-wheel antilock brakes and front-seat side airbags, it also shares the Uconnect digital media storage and playback system with its Dodge counterpart, along with the standard speaker arrangement.

When push comes to shove, there’s really not a lot between the various versions of this car, or its Dodge branded father. While optional upgrades can help the situation, the basic 2009 Chrysler Sebring suffers from an underpowered engine, disappointing finish and somewhat inadequate brakes.

The all new 2009 Chrysler 300 is looking poised to win a few hearts this year. It’s designed to take on the great American sports sedans at their own game, and hopefully, come out on top. Looking like a heavily made over letter car from the 50’s, it’s a very cool design and it can really move when it needs to.

There are two engines at work inside the 300 models; the LX version uses a 178-hp 2.7-liter V6 engine while the Touring and Limited use a 250-hp 3.5-liter V6. The 300C tops off the collection with a 5.7-liter version of Chrysler’s Hemi V8 with 359 bhp.

The 300 employs a range of standard safety features including traction control, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags. It also boasts a range of entertainment and driving aids, namely: Uconnect, satellite TV, rear seat video screens and DVD player and a decent Boston Acoustics speaker system.

It’s a solid car, looks great, and has the power to kick off the starting blocks with decent pace when it needs too. Overall the 2009 Chrysler 300 is a welcome and refreshing change to the more common sporty sedan look, and it’s sure to turn more heads than the likes of the Dodge Charger, Ford Taurus.

Chrysler makes some bold claims about its new 2009 Chrysler Town and Country minivan: No minivan offers better fuel economy than Town & Country, plus Town & Country is the most trusted minivan. They follow this up by advertising the 2009 Chrysler Town and Country’s five star frontal crash test rating. It certainly seems like a safe investment, but does it compare well with competing models for other features?

The 2009 Town & Country base model sports a 3.3-liter V6 and a 4-speed automatic transmission, while the basic engine leaves room for improvement, the upgraded 3.8-liter V6, which gives a more suitable power to weight ratio. Still, these are secondary issues for a family looking for a safe and efficient way to get about.

There are a lot of neat features and fittings packed inside the Town & Country, most notable is it’s clever seating arrangement and technologies called the Stow ‘n Go system, which has 2nd- and 3rd-row seats that fold flush into the floor and the optional Flexible Seating Group which includes Chrysler’s Swivel ‘n Go seating.

It looks good too, not that that’ll be a huge issue, but mums and dads will be pleased to note the easy clean fabrics. The 2009 Chrysler Town & Country really does fit the bill when it comes to family transport.

The Aspen is back to defend its crown as the premium sports utility vehicle. The 2009 Chrysler Aspen model remains almost unchanged on the outside, but its internals have been rearranged to make room for a hybrid drive and battery packs. When combined with Dodges 5.7 litre hemi V8, which produces 345 hp, the 2009 Chrysler ESV becomes a formidable force for change, but don’t expect too much change for your $50,000 if you want the best it can give. These things don’t come cheap.

Safety and comfort is a priority for Aspen drivers and the ESV doesn’t disappoint. As well as the re-enforced bodywork and a raised ride height, the Aspen includes the usual suite of safety equipment; ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. On top of this is a collection of optional entertainment items, including a DVD based entertainment system.

The Aspen looks good, too. Though competing SUV’s might be more recognizable icons, the Aspens contemporary looks compliment it nicely, and hide it’s substantial frame nicely. The only criticism buyers might have is with the Aspens slightly cramped seating arrangement for passengers at the very rear of the vehicle.

Overall, the 2009 Chrysler Aspen gets high marks, which is surprising when one considers it’s relatively new pedigree. New SUV owners could do much worse than an Aspen, particularly if they are looking for as green an SUV as possible.

The 2009 Chrysler Aspen Hybrid combines two words one wouldn’t think possible – HEMI and hybrid engine. The two-mode hybrid found in this model uses an Electronically Variable Transmission, making the ride smoother as the driver doesn’t feel the difference when the vehicle shifts into different gears.

If you are looking to save money, but still want a powerful SUV, this might be the ride for you. The ‘09 Aspen Hybrid’s has a two-mode hybrid system – the first mode is for low speeds and the vehicle can operate in electric-only, engine-only or a combination of the two, reducing fuel consumption significantly. The second mode is for higher speeds. The system utilizes not only the full power of the HEMI V8 engine, but uses an electrical assist, improving passing and acceleration performance. The most benefit of this system comes in stop-and-go traffic, when energy is usually lost due to excessive braking.

The system gives a perfect blend of performance, utility and fuel economy, improving the latter by up to 40 percent. The two-mode architecture is also more efficient than traditional hybrid systems. The powertrain adjusts at different speeds to yield the most efficient use of power, making the fuel economy improvement possible.

The Chrysler Aspen Hybrid’s HEMI engine provides fuel economy and power in package, as it sends out 385 total horse power and has a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds, making it a powerful and efficient SUV.

Chrysler’s 2009 Aspen Hybrid is an SUV that combines technology, practicality and affordability and is likely to be a must-have for hybrid buyers this fall.

A reinvention of the minivan – that’s one description of the new 2008 Chrysler Town & Country. One of many impressive new features that bring practicality to the inside include the Swivel’n Go Seating, which swivels second-row seating 180 degrees to make easier conversations and games. There’s also an available removable table with this seating system.

The ‘08 Town & Country isn’t a hybrid vehicle per se, but is still friendly to the environment. Its Flex Fuel feature allows it to accept E85, a mix of ethanol (85%) and gasoline (15%). Not only is this good for our surroundings, but it also boosts performance and reduces emissions. This van’s V6 engine puts out 175-horse power, giving it some good oomph for this type of vehicle. Fuel economy isn’t bad either, with a possible 24 mpg on the highway.

A standard alarm system, using lights and sounds, adds security to the 2008 Town & Country, while tire pressure monitoring eases minds on long trips. This available system alerts the driver if levels become critically low. Standard airbags, at the front top and side of this van, protect passengers in dangerous situations. There’s also an Emergency Accident Response System, letting other drivers know the vehicle was recently involved in a wreck and help is needed.

It’s no surprise that this Chrysler is spacious, but that can make maneuvering a bit of a challenge at times. That task is made easier with the standard ParkView rear backup camera, which displays an image of what is behind the vehicle, avoiding mishaps. Other interior conveniences include three-zone automatic temperature control and Uconnect, a hands-free telephone communication system.

Entertainment is important when going on a ride, and passengers won’t be disappointed with the Town & Country’s AM/FM CD player with MP3 playback capability with a fixed long-mast antenna and instrument panel storage bin. Also available is a SIRUS backseat TV and satellite radio capability, and a rear dual DVD entertainment system.

Chrysler’s 2008 Town & Country is a model that combines technology, safety and practicality, making it a very appealing ride this year.

Usually when the word convertible is used, soft-top roof comes to mind. That doesn’t have to be the case with the 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible. This model’s available retractable hard-top roof can be lowered or raised with just the push of a button on the key fob or instrument panel. This model also is spacious. To give a visual, there’s enough storage space in the trunk for two sets of golf clubs with the top down. If the hard-top is not your style, the Sebring comes standard with a soft-top roof.

Not only is this an appealing model, but it is safe as well. The ‘08 Sebring Convertible comes standard with tire pressure monitoring, and a coded Sentry key, making it nearly impossible to steal the vehicle. There’s also an option antitheft security alarm. As far as protecting passengers, each Sebring is equipped with driver and front passenger airbags, and supplemental seat-mounted protection from side impact.

The 2008 Sebring’s 4-cylinder engine puts out 173-horse power and this model gets about 21 mpg.

A windscreen allows for the wind-through-your-hair feeling, but without having that look. In addition to keeping occupants’ appearance, the available screen reduces noise and turbulence for front-seat passengers, allowing for a more comfortable ride. Also providing comfort inside are standard air conditioning and low-back bucket seats.

This ride is entertaining as well. Audio options include an AM/FM system with 6-disc in-dash CD player with MP3/DVD playback capability and a removable short-mast antenna and six speakers.

Passengers of a convertible usually want to have the vehicle noticed, and it will be hard not to accomplish that task in this sleek ride. Adding to the cosmetics on the Sebring Convertible are features like tinted and solar-control glass, a Sebring badge and body-color fascias.

Chrysler’s 2008 Sebring Convertible goes above and beyond with its attractive body style coupled with safety and security features. It’s likely to be one of the top-sellers this year.

This model almost pays for itself, getting 30 highway mpg. The Sebring’s 4-cylinder engine gets 173-horse power, showing it has potential for high performance.

The 2008 Sebring is also safe, which many standard features, including a tire pressure monitoring system that alerts the driver when the tires meet critically low levels, and also advanced driver and front passenger airbags. Side supplemental curtain airbags are optional. Though suave, the Sebring was designed with the family in mind. It includes upper tether anchorages for children.

Adding to the unique, yet sleek, appearance of this model include its grooved hood, which has six fluid lines that stretch from the windshield to the egg-crate fascia and winged badge.

Interior comfort is provided with the Sebring’s air condition with carbon air filtration, so passengers get to breathe in healthier air when they ride. Also, there’s cloth low-back bucket seats. Entertainment comes in high supply with this Chrysler’s standard AM/FM radio with disc-in-dash CD player that has MP3 playback capability and a removable short-mast antenna.

Features like the ‘08 Sebring’s all-wheel drive, which improves traction in even hazardous road conditions, redirecting power to the rear wheels, shows that this vehicle uses technology and safety together. Power controls, including locks, trunklid release and windows, put convenience in with the mix.

If you’re looking to ride in style but still be safe, don’t glance past the 2008 Sebring, a likely high-demand model this year for Chrysler.

The ‘08 Crossfire is not only a vehicle convenience, but rides on a lot of power as well. It uses 215-horse power and has a V6 engine. Its novel remote start turns on the engine at the push of a button, and for safety, this Chrysler comes with an engine immobilizer that won’t start with a forged key or hot wires, making theft difficult.

Its appearance turns heads with ease, with low-slung design and subtle edges. A retractable spoiler deploys automatically when the vehicle reaches 60 mph.

Safety is more than sufficient, as the 2008 Chrysler Crossfire comes standard with several features, including front, side and knee airbags, and an available tire pressure monitoring system automatically checks each tire for proper inflation, and an emits a warning if low or excessive tire pressure is detected.

To make this ride more enjoyable for its occupants, the Crossfire includes an AM/FM stereo with a CD player and six speakers. Interior comfort is provided with dual-zone air conditioning and leather trim bucket seats.

Features like the Crossfire’s Electronic Stability program, which adjusts the torque in critical driving situations, and determines when to apply the brakes to more wheels, show that this 2008 Chrysler is in a breed of its own.

Chrysler’s 2008 Crossfire is a mix of technology, safety and convenience, and customers will likely giving this vehicle a second look.

Class isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of an SUV, but that’s not the case with the 2008 Chrysler Aspen, which was rated as best-in-class by the manufacturer. Its bold exterior and surprising fuel efficiency contribute to this winning style.

A 303-horse power, V8 engine comes standard, but there’s also an option of a 5.7-liter HEMI with 335-horse power. Either way, the Aspen gets an estimated 13/19 mpg.

Contributing to the appealing look of the ‘08 Aspen are tinted and laminated glass, power-heated fold-away mirrors and LED lamps. Looking inside the vehicle, security is high with a buzzer that alerts the driver when the seatbelt is not attached and the key has been left in the ignition. Safety is also a must with airbag protection covering three rows of seats.

The Aspen’s novel approach to parking uses the ParkSense program, utilizing sound waves to detect nearby in and near the path of the SUV to help maneuver in tight spaces at parking speeds. Also, there’s an overhead display that shows objects that might be out of the driver’s line of sight.

Giving passengers an enjoyable ride is important to most people, and this Chrysler does just that with ease. Its AM/FM radio has a CD player and WMA/MP3 playback capability, and there’s also audio controls mounted on the steering wheel for additional convenience. Interior comfort is provided with the Aspen’s air conditioning, which includes rear air conditioning and heating also available.

Chrysler’s 2008 Aspen turns heads with its economical gas mileage, and mix of technology and safety, turning it into one must-have for SUV-buyers this year.

Innovation and convenience in one tight package – one of many possible descriptions for the new 2008 Chrysler 300. Impressive new features include the available remote start, which requires only the push of a button to start the engine before even entering the car, and the system works from up to 30 feet away. There’s also an electronic stability program, which helps the driver maintain control by monitoring to determine typical vehicle behavior. If the vehicle goes off course, ESP works to get it back on track.

The 300’s adaptive cruise control tracks vehicles up to 328 feet ahead. Once the cruise speed is set, the ACC adjusts speed as traffic flow changes.

This model brings glamour, athleticism and substance to the forefront. Features like its Intelligent Headlamps, which blaze the road with full power high beams when no traffic flow is on the road, add to the sleek appearance of the 300. Taking a look inside, the 300 boasts new large gauges that offer style while still providing concise information.

Infotainment – an asset in the audio department, includes navigation, single- or six-CD player radio and surround sound system. The Infotainment system also has a 20-gigabyte hard drive that can be used for music downloads.

Safety is a high priority as well in the 300. This Chrysler includes advanced airbags that come standard, front, rear and side curtain airbags. Too, self-sealing tires avoid a flat by using a special sealant.

The 300 is forceful as well, with 178-horse power and a V6 engine to give sufficient “go.”

Chrysler’s 2008 300 is a car of its own kind, combining technology and safety, making it one of the most appealing Chrysler models this year.
