That’ not to say that Porsches other 911 models aren’t capable track cars, but the GT2 is traditionally the most track tuned yet still road friendly of the collection.

The GT2 weighs in at a substantial 3858 lb. This is heavier than other 911 versions, so the GT2 needs an engine upgrade to keep it in contention with the lighter models. Enter, the 3.6 liter, 6 Cylinder, 530 hp monstrosity beating at the heart of the GT2. This formidable engine gives the GT2 more than enough kick to get its bulk and driver from 0 ñ 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, and it’ll hit 200 mph when factory fresh.

With that kind of power you need some serious help with handling, and the GT2 doesn’t disappoint. Porsche branded ceramic breaking, traction control systems, 4-wheel antilock brakes and tire pressure monitors help keep cornering tight and responsive.

Overall the 2009 Porsche 911 GT2 is a fearsome machine, designed to be capable of unparalleled performance in both road and track driving. Luxury fixtures and fittings are notably absent, as are the ultra high quality finishes found of some of Porsches other 911 variants -but who needs GPS and Bluetooth when you are driving a GT2?

The 2009 Porsche 911 Turbo is perhaps the most closely followed of Porsches car updates for 2009. Speculation about its makeup and performance has circulated the internet a thousand times since spy pictures were taken of an early prototype being tested at the world famous Nurburgring in Germany. Now it’s here, and we have concrete details.

As many predicted, Porsches long rivalry with Nissans GT-R is central to the new performance of the 911 Turbo. The new car is kitted out with a 480 hp, 6,000 rpm engine -putting it 20 hp over the GT-R’s power output and providing for a stunning 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds and a top track speed of 193 mph.

Power is nothing without control though. Porsche has taken care of this by furnishing the 911 Turbo with generous upgrades to many of its drive and handling systems. A dual clutch Porsche Doppel Kupplung gearbox for faster shifting, ceramic disk brakes and so on.

The 2009 Porsche 911 Turbo is central to the companies 911 lineup, and represents one of their most widely publicised weekend track cars. Buyers shouldn’t care of it’s faster than the GT-R but Porsche does and they are doing everything within their power to win this race.

One of the last in the 911 line to receive its 2009 facelift, the Targa 4 is still arguably one of Porsches least favourite vehicles, but it’s quickly gaining ground on its cousins. The 2009 Porsche 911 Targa 4 exists predominantly as a result of Porsche wanting to put a brand on its sliding roof technology, but that doesn’t mean it lacks the essential Porsche DNA.

The Targa 4 features a new seven-speed Porsche Doppel Kupplung (PDK) dual-clutch gearbox as well as direct injection technology, which both help to boost performance while saving fuel. The basic 3.6L engine in the Targa 4 creates 345 hp and, when equipped with the PDK fuel consumption unit, this equates to 23.3mpg ñnot bad.

The Targa 4’s bodywork has had a moderate upgrade, allowing it to snugly fit Porsches new LED lighting systems and sporting a slight tightening of the front end design. There are no major fireworks here, but Porsche certainly doesn’t need them to promote its range.

The key feature of the 2009 Porsche 911 Targa 4, its retractable roof section, is constructed from two sheets of high strength glass cushioned with a sheet of transparent plastic. When activated, the entire roof section draws back behind the passenger seats. The feeling of sitting in something stuck between a full convertible and a large sun roof.

The Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is the German manufacturer’s most expensive Carrera variation. Though Porsche purists inevitably scoff at the compromises inevitably made in the Cabs design and construction, it’s still a formidable car, and probably the finest Cabriolet on the road.

The usual 2009 range of tweaks and upgrades are included, which keep the 911 Cab to a roughly level pegging with its slightly lighter and more agile hard roofed cousins. Most notable in its 2009 improvements is an engine upgrade, giving the Cab a substantial 325-hp boost to its basic 3.6 liter engine.

Some will be pleased to hear that the new 911 Carrera Cabriolet also features a much improved media/utility center. A larger screen and easier to control systems make it a far more suitable inclusion with the Cabriolet.
All the usual safety systems are available; antilock brakes, front passengers airbag, driver’s airbag and front side airbags to name a few. New drivers won’t go without in the comfort department either, with a range of standard equipment such as air conditioning, power steering, wind deflector, cruise control and more.

As much as its detractors might like to denigrate the 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet for its ëcompromised’ engineering, in reality the car is far from any compromise. As is typical with Porsche, only the best is used in design and production of the Cab, and it’s worth every penny.

Porsche is calling the new 911 and its branded siblings such as the 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera S, their new generation of sports car. That’s all well and good, but the real proof of a new generation of sports car has ultimately got to be measured in performance.

No single part of the Carrera S is significantly different from older versions, but almost every part of the power train and suspension has been subjected to some modification for the 2009 model. The overall result of lots of small upgrades and tune-ups is a genuinely fresh new generation feel to the car.

The Carrera S comes equipped with a host of features like the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) including some old favourites unique to the Porsche line. Surprisingly power and torque output, coupled with excellent handling technologies, make the Carrera S an extremely worthy successor to the throne.

Some have gone so far as to call it the new benchmark for its class. Of course, commendations like that don’t come cheap ñ but the 2009 Porsche Carrera S is actually surprisingly good value when compared against cheap imitations from other manufacturers. If you’ve got the cash, the Carrera S makes a costly but excellent value investment. The Carrera S will still be settling in while other sport cars are losing their value by the mile.

A strange choice perhaps, from a manufacturer famed for its super light weight sports marvels, but there’s a significant crossover in technology evident when you look under the hood of the 2009 Porsche Cayenne.

The Cayenne shares it’s basic build with the Volkswagen Touareg, which isn’t a particularly bad thing ñbetter yet, it’s got a Porsche built power train. Base Cayennes trims come with a 290-hp 3.6-liter V6 engine. Which is significantly bumped up to 385, 405, 500, and 550 hp, respectively in the V8, S, GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S models.

All Cayennes come with 4 wheel drive, which a range of sophisticated traction control, suspension levelling and automatic breaking systems to make the Cayenne almost omnisciently friendly to drive on any terrain you can throw at it.

As it’s a Porsche and includes a Porsche built engine, the designers couldn’t resist including a sport button, a single press will hunker the vehicle down into its wheel arches and tunes the engine and transmission to turn the Cayenne into a formidable road vehicle.

All this power, performance and luxury doesn’t come cheap, but if you are looking for an all terrain sport utility vehicle the Cayenne is one of the finest choice s available.

The 2009 Porsche 911 is a car which needs no introduction. So let’s dive right into it shall we?

Ranging from approximately $75,000 up to a whopping $200,000 (and that’s not including any extras!) The 911 is Porsches hallmark brand. It simultaneously sets the yardstick for sports car performance and executive luxury. At home on the track, cruising the highway or the city streets, it’s hard to fault this modern marvel.

The 911’s design is unremarkable, but admittedly it does hold a certain timeless beauty. While Porsche body styles gradually became more contemporary during the course of the 2000’s the new 911 takes the design right back to its roots. Much of Porsches publicity material shows the new 2009 model in classic 1950’s racing green, if the redesign hadn’t provided enough of a hint.

Under the hood is the usual uncompromising affair. A 3.6-liter, horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine produces 345 hp and 288 pound-feet of torque which help the tiny car lurch to 60 mph in under 5 seconds.

Handling has got to be top notch on something so powerful, and the 2009 Porsche 911 does not disappoint. Amongst Porsches smorgasbord of nifty traction control systems and intelligent suspension lurk a simple truth: The 911 was made to handle beautifully. Even if you threw out all the new gimmickry, these things would still be a dream to drive.

The 2009 Porsche Cayman and Cayman S are having minor upgrades this year. Porsche are always keen to keep their cars at the cutting edge of their engineering knowledge, and the improvements to the Cayman demonstrate this clearly.

The Cayman is equipped with some excellent features such as PCCB (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes) and PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), and a range of engine tweaks and acronym technologies which keep the entire drive train on the cutting edge of locomotion.

The Cayman S is capable of generating 295 horsepower with 251 pound feet of torque. The engine is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. Surprisingly, the Porsche Cayman S produces quite excellent fuel economy; 19 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on highways, in fact.

While the looks hardly need mentioning, it’s difficult to ignore them. Classic Porsche lines at the front give way to more contemporary and petite rear styling’s. The cars also come in a range of colors, but the really cool paint jobs will cost a hefty extra fee. Inside, the Cayman looks great with a range of leather, fabric and high quality plastics used to optimum effect.

As with any Porsche, you are buying into a lifestyle as well as a car. The basic 2009 Porsche Cayman will set you back around $50,000 but it’s difficult to resist adding features from the almost unending list of expensive extras.

Porsche is known for the luxury and power of their sports car range. Perhaps the most widely recognized sports car manufacturer in the world, it’s been hard for Porsche to put a foot wrong over the last several years. It doesn’t look like they intend to start doing things wrong now, as they introduce small but potent changes to their 2009 Porsche Boxster.

The 2009 Boxster has been subjected to a minor facelift; at its front the Boxster has gained a Cayman style wing, with slightly modernised headlight styling. The central front air dam now also features a trapezoid shaped air intake. It’s only a slight brush up, but it makes the Boxster look great for 2009.

In other news, the Boxster’s engine has been tweaked and enhanced with new power massaging features. The base version is powered by a 2.7-liter 6-cylinder that increases the output to 260 hp from the current engine’s 245. The 3.4-liter 6-cylinder in the S trim has been boosted from 295 hp to 310. Manual or automatic transmission is optional on all models, including paddle shifts.

Porsche look like they can’t go wrong with the Boxster, but every year that they release another perfectly honed vehicle is a small miracle. The high price tag may put the 2009 Porsche Boxster out of reach for many, but it’s worth every penny.

Reaching a top track speed of 160 mph, the 2008 Porsche Limited Edition Boxster is impressive as it contains high performance, sporty design and also features that offer practicality and safety. Its braking power is greater than the engine output, making it a car that always will be able to be kept under the driver’s control.

The ‘08 Limited Edition Boxster’s 6-cylinder engine gets 245-horse power, and the newly designed two-stage resonance intake manifold helps ensure high levels of torque, even at lower speeds. Also, the car seems to “breathe.” The Limited Edition Boxster’s engine is designed to push large volumes of air into and out of the engine quickly and efficiently, with each cycle producing an emphatic power stroke. A Porsche-optimized exhaust system also enhances the car’s breathing and, ultimately, its performance.

Safety is kept a priority in this model, as two full-sized airbags come standard and offer full upper-body protection. There’s also a weight sensor that turns off if a passenger is not present, and side-impact protection is included with dual-side airbags.

This Porsche couldn’t be as attractive without its exterior features, including 18-inch alloy wheels. Progressively larger contact patches between rubber and road ensure better grip and improved ride comfort, making this car one with a design that’s both sporty and smart.

The new 2008 Porsche Limited Edition Boxster is a car that combines high performance, convenience, sporty design and more, making it a vehicle that will be hard for luxury car buyers to pass up this year.

The 2008 Porsche Cayenne S is a luxury vehicle that combines technology and safety, and also has features offering convenience. The model has an impressive, and optional Dynamic Chassis Control system, which enhances optimal roadholding and precision handling. The system is helpful when the vehicle is driving off-pavement, and uses active anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles to significantly reduce lateral body movement during cornering maneuvers.

The model was designed to ride on or off the road, and can be switched to a low-range mode using the transfer gearbox when the driver is ready to go to an off-pavement surface.

The ‘08 Cayenne S has the look of a family-style vehicle, and has several safety features to protect its occupants. Included in this Porsche are airbags that protect the front occupants, and side-impact protection as well. Security is added with the antitheft system, which uses ultrasonic interior monitoring.

This model has direct fuel injection, which can boost fuel economy. DFI injects fuel directly into the individual combustion chambers, instead of the intake manifold. The Cayenne S has a V8 engine that produces 385-horse power.

The Cayenne S has exterior feature that both contribute to the attractive appearance of the model, and add to convenience. For example, there’s an enlarged rear spoiler integrated into the tailgate, black, high-gloss tailgate trim and the exterior trim is covered in brush aluminum.

Taking a look inside the vehicle, the driver is kept informed with an onboard computer with digital indication of total mileage, trip mileage, time, outside temp, speed, and various warning indicators. There’s also automatic climate control and optional 4-zone climate control, and split 60-40 folding rear seats, both making for a comfortable ride. Park Assist uses additional views and audible warnings to show the driver objects that may otherwise be unseen, helping to maneuver the car through tight spaces without too much difficulty.

The new 2008 Cayenne S from Porsche is sleek, secure and advanced, making it a luxury vehicle that will be hard for buyers to pass up, especially those drivers with an adventurous side.
